I would like to be an editor for a book-publishing house. To become an editor, I will need to earn a bachelor's degree in a related subject such as communications or English, for example. Most editors have a background in the field before they become editors, and are often editorial assistants, writers, or reporters. In addition, they have to have strong reading and writing skills, and be able to navigate communication and editing/publishing software to keep up with the shift towards a more tech-based industry (think e-readers, e-books, etc.) and be able to communicate effectively. Editors must also be detail-oriented and have strong time-management skills, as they often have to work with very strict deadlines.
